Clovelly Why Clovelly is the best address in Sydney
Overview
The charming beachside suburb of Clovelly is located 6km from the CBD, just one beach south of Bronte.
This family oriented suburb is just one stop along the famed coastal walk which begins at Bondi Beach and takes you all the way through to Maroubra, passing spectacular coastline along the way, including Gordons Bay, a rocky bay on Clovelly’s southern border.
Clovelly Beach is unusual in that it’s framed by a rocky outcrop and cement breakwater creating a sheltered rockpool ideal for swimming, snorkelling and scuba diving. There is a small stretch of sand at the northern end while the adjacent parkland has picnic and barbecue facilities.
It boasts an eclectic mix of original beachside cottages, quaint semis, beautifully renovated and refurbished character homes, older-style apartments and newer luxury homes. At the beach end of Clovelly Road, the landmark Clovelly Hotel is a grand character building surrounded by sprawling lawns and entertaining decks enjoying great ocean views.
A number of local village shops, restaurants and takeaway places are located next to it, while Randwick or the retail hub of Bondi Junction are close by for more substantial shopping.
